Asbestos Released Into The Air By Israeli Bombs Turns Gaza Into Slow-Moving Gas Chamber

In what's being called a "death sentence" for Palestinians living in Gaza, airborne particles containing asbestos are polluting Gaza's air due to the constant Israeli bombings of buildings. As reported by Al Jazeera, asbestos is "a mineral that poses little risk to humans when undisturbed but that is highly carcinogenic when dispersed and released into the atmosphere" while also noting that "asbestos is present throughout much of Gaza's structures."

Experts say Israel's genocide is releasing so many of these breathable particles into the air that Palestinians in Gaza will face extraordinarily high risks of cancer and death "for decades." Many of the deaths from this genocide will continue on even if the bombs stopped right this second. Because Gaza is such a densely populated area and is completely closed off from the outside world by Israel, there is no opportunity for Palestinians to get away from the chemical warfare dimensions of these airstrikes. Gaza is not just an open air concentration camp— it's now becoming a giant, slow motion carcinogenic gas chamber with no escape.
